They are burying important facts, while obfuscating the reduced value of the perpetual license behind language like “You will not get early access to future features”. In other words, their entire pricing structure is designed to drive you to the per device subscription model, rather than offering a true competitive alternative for long-time PC users.Īnd you’re right, the information was well hidden. Might as well enjoy the latest version all through 2023-24, and for slightly cheaper upfront, right?īuuut-if you’re going to pay $10/yr for the update pass (good for PC/Mac), you might as well pay $10/yr for the single device plan (good for PC/Mac/Android/iOS), as the PC/Mac license is only good for one machine (instead of two, as it was for 1.x). But hopefully someone can help me clear this up! Thank you for taking the time to read this, have an amazing day.I missed that part, it was so well hidden…Price wise, doesn’t seem to be much of a differenceĪctually, price-wise it’s slightly cheaper to get the update pass for 2 years (good till Mar 2025 for all 2.x and 3.x) than it is to buy outright then upgrade (good till ~2024, but only for 2.0). Like many, I'm frustrated with this change and I wish CSP would be more clear about it. They've changed a lot since Agust and I would really like some clarification if any of you wonderful people can help!ġ) Back in 2022, CSP said they're offering $20 upgrade for 1.0 users into 2.0, though how far does this get you? Does it last till 2.1 like their old chart said or does it last till 3.0? And mainly, are they still offering it? It doesn't seem to be avaliable on their website to purchase and I'm not sure if this is beacuse they aren't doing it or because 2.0 isn't out yet seemingly.Ģ) Does the Update Pass (If still avaliable, I can't seem to find it anywhere besdies their news article form October) get you from 1.0 to 2.0- hence skipping the need for the upgrade (though it would still be a bad deal since it's $10/year when the 1.0 to 2.0 is $20- but thats under my assumption that that upgrade goes till 3.0, but I digress.)ģ) In the end is it better to just be on the monthly usage plan? For me it would be $25/year. Looking at new infromation, I see 1.x will contuined to be supported, but I want to look into 2.0 and what it has to offer. Hello! So, I'm currently on version 1.13.2 of CSP on Windows.
